CITY SMILES VENEERS TREATMENT
At City Smiles DC, Dr. Ross and his team begin with a consultation to determine if veneers are the right option for you. First we’ll discuss your overall goals and concerns to make sure we understand what you want to achieve. We’ll offer you examples of anonymous cases, similar to yours, to help you see how other patients have achieved their goals. We’ll also explain costs and time involved to get the desired results. Our on-site lab allows us complete control over timing and quality. We pride ourselves on providing our very busy patients with quick and efficient veneers treatments by Empress, CEREC One-Day, Lithium Disilicate, and Lumineers.
OUR CEREC® SAME-DAY TECHNOLOGY
Dr. Ross is a top CEREC dentist in DC, Northern Virginia, and Maryland. Our on-site CEREC (Chairside Economical Restorations of Esthetic Ceramic) machine can construct the precise veneer that you need to complete your brilliant smile. The first step when utilizing the CEREC technology is to take a picture of your tooth or area in order to construct a 3D model of the veneer to be made. Using this image, Dr. Ross can analyze the space from all sides and make adjustments to the restoration on-screen. This takes only minutes and eliminates the need for traditional impressions. Once the design is ready, this is where the CEREC milling unit carves out a pixel-perfect restoration for you. This is completed in less than 2 hours. This way, Dr. Ross can apply your new veneer in as little as a single appointment, and you can leave with a brilliant, strong, and durable new smile.
WHAT TO EXPECT
In order to provide this treatment, a thin layer of enamel from the front surface of each tooth must be removed to make room for the veneer. Our goal is to preserve as much of the original tooth as possible in any treatment we provide. After the enamel is removed a digital impression of the teeth is made and sent to our in-house dental laboratory where an expert will tailor-make the patient’s veneers. The veneer is made of several thin layers of ceramic. Until the veneer is ready, the patient will wear a temporary veneer. Once the veneer is ready, the patients will return to the dentist for an appointment where a special resin is used as a bonding agent between the veneer and the tooth. Another option is our CEREC technology, which allows veneers to be made in as little as a few hours. Veneers are durable and can last up to 20 years with proper oral hygiene and care.
For the first few days, a patient may be more sensitive to hot and cold temperatures because of the removal of the natural enamel. This should subside within a few days. A week after the veneers are placed, a patient needs a follow-up appointment at the dentist’s office to make sure the mouth is responding well to the veneers. Due to the material they are made of and since they are easy to polish, the probability of staining veneers is slight to none. It’s still a good idea to brush after consuming foods or drinks that stain the teeth, especially coffee, soda, tea, and red wine.
Veneers should be brushed with a non-abrasive toothpaste, flossed, and rinsed with mouthwash just like natural teeth. Patients should be sure to keep up with regular dental appointments so the dentist can perform professional maintenance by polishing the veneers with a special, non-abrasive paste to keep them in pristine condition.
The cost can vary when it comes to ceramic veneers. Factors such as the labor and skill going into creating the veneers, the number of teeth that will be treated, and the material used all play a role. Since this is considered a cosmetic treatment, insurance usually doesn’t cover the costs, but in some cases, insurance might cover some of the costs.
